Coalition To Empower Our Future Launches National Ad Campaign During Mental Health Awareness Month

Spot Highlights How Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Is a Complex Challenge that Requires Bipartisan Solutions

WASHINGTON, DC — In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Coalition to Empower our Future, a growing coalition that aims to convene a comprehensive conversation on the multifaceted and complex factors contributing to the state of youth mental health, today launched “Our Mission,” a new ad highlighting the importance of meaningful and bipartisan solutions to address the many factors contributing to the youth mental health and wellbeing challenge.

The spot features Coalition to Empower our Future board of directors: former Governor Steve Bullock (D-MT), January Contreras, former assistant secretary for the Administration for Children and Family Services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and former U.S. Representative Carlos Curbelo (R-FL). It brings attention to the myriad of factors impacting youth mental health, including but not limited to economic hardships, social isolation, overuse of devices, and fear of violence and bullying, and calls for a comprehensive examination of all factors to find long-lasting solutions to empower youth, their families and communities.

“Today’s youth are experiencing unprecedented challenges to their mental health and wellbeing,” said Glen Weiner, executive director of the Coalition to Empower our Future. “As parents, educators and community members, we must come together to ensure they are not facing these challenges alone. Mental Health Awareness Month serves as a reminder to all of us that we must listen to our kids and support and empower parents. By convening a comprehensive conversation centered around the full range of issues impacting our young people, we can work together to find meaningful and comprehensive solutions that truly address all the challenges our kids are facing.”
