Pursuing Comprehensive, Lasting Solutions For Youth Mental Health In New York

It was heart­en­ing to learn that New York ranks first in Men­tal Health Amer­i­ca’s 2025 State of Men­tal Health in Amer­ica re­port, mak­ing the Em­pire State a na­tional leader in men­tal health­care. But when it comes to our chil­dren’s men­tal health, as a fa­ther of two school-aged kids, I along with many other par­ents know that does­n’t mean there is­n’t more work to be done.

And the data bears it out as well. A re­cent sur­vey by Coali­tion to Em­power our Fu­ture found that nearly seven-in-10 New York vot­ers and par­ents say they per­son­ally know a young per­son strug­gling with men­tal health. Be­hind that num­ber are real in­di­vid­u­als and fam­i­lies in search of so­lu­tions.
