Steve Bullock

24th Governor of Montana

Steve Bullock served as the 24th Governor of Montana from 2013 to 2021 and as the Montana Attorney General from 2009 to 2013. Prior to serving in public office, Bullock practiced law in Washington, D.C. and Helena, Montana. He worked as a lawyer for the Montana Department of Justice and the Montana Secretary of State. 

Bullock was born in Missoula, Montana and raised in Helena. He received his undergraduate degree from Claremont McKenna College and his law degree from Columbia University School of Law. He was elected chair of the National Governors Association (NGA), Western Governors Association (WGA) and Democratic Governors Association (DGA).

His most important role is husband to Lisa and father to Caroline, Alexandria and Cameron.

January Contreras

Former Assistant Secretary, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

January Contreras is the former assistant secretary for the Administration for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. As the assistant secretary, she worked to strengthen child care accessibility, child safety and wellbeing and family economic stability nationwide. In this role, Contreras also elevated efforts to prevent and respond to family violence by creating the Office of Family Violence Prevention and Services, launched new tools to combat human trafficking and prioritized the integration of mental health supports for youth and their parents and caregivers.

Contreras previously served as the ombudsman for citizenship and immigration services at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and as a designee to the White House Council on Women and Girls. Through those federal roles, Contreras led policy reform to better protect the rights of undocumented immigrant victims of crime with a focus on battered immigrant women. Contreras has also worked for the Honorable Janet Napolitano as a cabinet member and advisor. 

She and her husband are the grateful parents of two adult sons.

Carlos Curbelo

Former Member of Congress (R-FL)

Carlos Curbelo is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and co-founder of Vocero. He was first elected to Congress in 2014 and served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the Education and Workforce Committee, the Small Business Committee and the Committee on Ways and Means, where he co-authored the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017.

While in Congress, Curbelo was also a leader in climate policy, immigration reform and gun safety. He co-founded and co-chaired the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus, served in a leadership role in the Problem Solvers Caucus and led the Brazil Caucus to strengthen its bilateral relationship with Latin America’s economy. He returned to the private sector in 2019 when he co-founded Vocero, a communications and strategic consulting firm. Curbelo is also a former member of the Miami-Dade County School Board.

Curbelo and his wife, Cecilia, live with their two daughters in Miami, Florida.

Glen Weiner

Executive Director of Coalition to Empower our Future

Glen Weiner leads the Coalition to Empower our Future. Weiner brings decades of experience building coalitions and providing executive, strategic, and communications counsel to advocacy organizations and mission-driven companies. His experience spans a wide array of issues, including education reform, renewable energy, affordable housing and cybersecurity.

Weiner previously helped create and co-managed one of the most effective education advocacy organizations in the country, serving both as its interim executive director and deputy executive director. He was also the interim president and CEO and communications director of the Roosevelt Institute, a progressive economic policy think tank. Weiner started his career working in politics and government, serving in the White House Office of Communications as well as several campaign roles.

Weiner is married and the parent of two children. He lives with his family in Westchester County, New York.

Dr. Caroline Carney

Former Chief Medical Officer and President of Behavioral Health, Magellan Health

Dr. Caroline Carney is a board-certified internist and psychiatrist. She is the former chief medical officer of Magellan Health and president of Magellan Behavioral Health. Dr. Carney also previously served as the senior vice president and chief medical officer for behavioral health and specialty medicine at Magellan Healthcare and as chief medical officer at Magellan Complete Care of Arizona.

Before joining Magellan, Dr. Carney held various chief medical officer roles, working with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial and Marketplace populations and programs. She also served as the medical director for the state of Indiana Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning, where she helped launch the state’s early Medicaid expansion products and mental health transformation initiatives.

She is an advocate for behavioral health services, integrated and collaborative care and the importance of living a balanced post-pandemic life. Dr. Carney is a published author and co-author for over 100 peer and non-peer-reviewed publications focusing on issues surrounding comorbid medical and behavioral health conditions.
